Over the last few weeks, I’ve met with homeowners in our area and learned how crucial it is to maintain a community’s sense of safety, calm and stability during the construction of a major new development. It is my job to report any concerns or incidents, and my number one priority is to make this community the very best it can be. Last week, my phone lit up with hundreds of texts and calls from concerned neighbors. While there is much to be proud of about this historic and award-winning neighborhood, unfortunately, some sections have begun to change drastically. Here are some things I want to be clear about: This project is a historic home with modern additions. This development will replace roughly 10 existing single family homes on its site. These homes will be replaced by a historic home, and a modern family home with a single attached garage. The majority of the new homes will be historic. There are literally hundreds of potential design options that we have presented to the community in an effort to meet the needs of those who live in the area. We are proud of our efforts to satisfy all of our neighbors. We work very hard to achieve a design that serves all of our neighbors. Some people in this neighborhood are not excited about the design of these homes. As the owner of this development, I am not. This project is about our quality of life. Neighbors want and deserve modern and safe construction; however, we are not worried about the quality of the exterior siding on the houses. We understand that this is an unfortunate reality, but I am personally certain that this project will be built to our high standard. We understand that some neighbors feel uncomfortable with our plan, and we empathize with that feeling. It is important that we work hard to make the project as friendly and inviting as possible, and I will personally be on hand to listen and answer any questions or concerns residents might have. People in this neighborhood want a community that is safe
